Kelli McDonough
Kelli is 38 year's old, and a mother of 2 beautiful girls, Katie 9, and Darcie 6. She's been married to her husband Greg for 12 years, who is very supportive and understanding of her passion for bodybuilding. Their family resides in Rowley, MA.
Kelli has been surrounded by fitness and competition her whole life. Playing competitive sports throughout High School and staying physically active as an adult. Growing up as a twin, she competed with her brother on a daily basis, I guess you can say it's in her blood.
Her journey into competitive body building started just 4 short years ago when her youngest daughter was diagnosed with a rear digestive disease. She joined a local gym to release the stress of “parenting", and that's when her life changed. She introduced herself to a staff trainer, Tom Ricci, in hopes of getting some training advice. It was with his persistence and support that prompted her to train for her first bodybuilding show in 2007. She competed in what she thought was just a “warm up" show, NPC Derry NH, and won 1st place. Two weeks later placed 3rd in Women's Light Weight division at NGA's Granite State Open...she was hooked.
She knew she wanted to continue competing, but needed to put on more size and work on conditioning.
After finding out that the Yankee Classic changed it's status to a Pro-Card Qualifier, she changed her game plan and decided to compete again sooner than planned. With the support and encouragement of her new trainer, Brent Lake, she trained harder then she ever had in the past and achieved a dream never believed possible, two Pro Card wins in the OCB organization.
Kelli fell in love with weight training within the first few months. She realized she could help others achieve their goals and became an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer. She is now working as a Parisi Speed and Strength Conditioning Coach at Cedardale in Haverhill, MA working with young Athletes ages 7-22. She has found her true calling in life, coaching young athletes and training them to become faster, stronger and more confident individuals.
Kelli reminds me of another great local woman bodybuilder, Michelle Brown. Kelli earned her IFPA Pro card with excellent symmetry and conditioning. She's very competitive on stage and leaves an impression on you. She will make a great IFPA Pro when she hits the big stage!
