Matt Carey

Matt Carey is the IFPA's newest Men's Pro Card winner. He won back to back IFPA Pro Qualifiers in dominating fashion. First, he won the OCB Tri-Cities show in West Nyack, NY, and next, the OCB Spirit of America in Carver, MA.

I got a chance to be behind the judges table for both shows, and the biggest compliment I can give him is that he leaves an impression on you. He's thickly muscled, symmetrical, and brings enough conditioning to dominate.

Matt looks to make his IFPA Pro debut at the Gaspari Pro Classic in October. With over 5 months to prepare... he should push the veterans on the Pro circuit to the limit!

He is the youngest of 8 children, and athletics have always been a big part of his family growing up. When Matt was 11 or 12, his older brother would bring him to the gym once a week or so. He would do a few sets of bench and curls and really started to enjoy lifting weights. He began training regularly in the 8th grade, at the weight room in his middle school. Matt and a few of his friends would lift during study hall or after school when they were permitted.

When Matt got to high school, they had an excellent weight room, and both the football and wrestling team had year round training programs where he made some excellent gains in both size and strength. He continued to train on and off through college for Rugby, and hasn't looked back since.
