Dave Gooden "Texas Shredder"

It was October 7th, 2006 in Cape Cod Massachusetts. I was competing in the amateur portion of the show (Cape Cod Natural), which would follow the IFPA Gaspari Nutrition Pro Classic. The very same day I got to see Carl Matthews Jr. and Philip Ricardo Jr. for the first time.

I had never seen a Natural Pro show before, but had heard the name "Texas Shredder", many, many times over the years. Dave Goodin, also known as the Texas Shredder, is a legend in Natural Bodybuilding. Not only was I going to be seeing my first Natural Pro show, but I would also be seeing a legend at the same time.

Dave didn't disappoint anyone who came to see him that day..... he took 2nd only to Philip Ricardo Jr. (another future legend). He lived up to all the hype, and to his legendary bodybuilding resume.

From his amazing physique to his perfect posing.... he was magical to watch. But, instead of smoke and mirrors, the "Texas Shredder" was the real deal.

He spent plenty of time talking to whoever bothered him for a piece of his time, including my wife, who to this day, still talks about the day she got to hang out with the Texas Shredder. My biggest fan became his biggest fan!

It was a great day for the IFPA and for the Gaspari Nutrition Pro Classis. History was made that day, and I know I will never forget the great physiques and personalities that lined up on our local stage that day.
