Chuck Martin

I first wrote the following prior to the 2010 Spirit of America...

"Pound for pound, the best amateur bodybuilder I have ever seen! Chuck made his bodybuilding debut at the 2006 OCB Maine Event taking 1st in the Men's Novice and 1st in Men's Open Class 1. He eventually came in second overall to Pro Card winner of the 2006 OCB Spirit of America winner Chris Motil. Chuck followed up the Maine event with an impressive 3rd place finish in the Men's Open Middle class at the extremely competitive OCB Cape Cod Natural. He finished up the season placing 2nd in the Open Men's Middleweight class at the NGA Granite State Open.

Chuck's size, symmetry, and polished posing makes him one of the most impressive bodybuilders to step on stage. Proving that 2006 wasn't a fluke, Chuck won the 2007 OCB Yankee classic overall in the most dominating performance of the year. His size, symmetry and conditioning was the most impressive I have ever witnessed at a show. He followed that performance with another fantastic finish at the 2007 OCB Cape Cod Natural, placing 1st in the Men's  Open Middle, and finished 1 vote shy of winning the overall and his pro card in a battle with Kirt Edwards.

Chuck took a full year before competing in the 2008 OCB Cape Cod Natural. He placed a disappointing 3rd in the Men's Open 3 Class. He still remains the best amateur competitor not to win his pro card in my opinion. When he's firing on all cylinders, he's pretty much unbeatable.

Chuck is one of the nicest, most humble competitors you will ever meet at a show. He was honored with having his picture on this year's Yorton Cup Poster. Not bad for an amateur!

I for one hope Chuck doesn't stay away from the stage too long. He makes everyone around him better."

Well... Chuck didn't stay away from the stage all that long. He regrouped, found a whole new focus,  and found a whole new way of preparing for a show through his good friend Mike Poirier. Chuck didn't just come in with his same old symmetry and size... he came in with his best conditioning ever. Chuck won his IFPA Pro Card, and will now start a whole new chapter in his short, but distinguished bodybuilding career. Congrats to Chuck... he's going to make a great IFPA Pro.
