Nancy Accetta

Nancy started lifting weights at age 16, with dreams of looking like the women she read about in the muscle magazines... Rachel McLish, Gladys Portugues, Carla Dunlap, Cory Everson, and Anja Langer. She aspired to become a bodybuilder, but for various reasons, was convinced that she could never successfully diet down to get in contest shape.  She settled for just lifting to stay in shape, an activity that was complemented by years of running.

Her training has always been intense, but the volume and training objectives have varied over the years.  In October 2007, she became interested in "Figure" when a friend told her how he was training a girl to compete in an OCB show.  She wanted to learn more, so she attended the 2007 Yorton Cup (I competed in that show). That's when she decided she was finally going to compete in a physique competition and that she'd be on that stage in one year's time.

On December 31, 2007, Nancy met with Josh Beach, a Master Parillo Trainer and former Junior Nationals Champion bodybuilder, because she heard he was THE diet guy to work with at her gym.  Josh helped her realize that she was STARVING her body of protein for over 20 years and that she needed to end her fear of complex carbs. Fourteen weeks after her first meeting with Josh, she was on stage at the OCB'S NBA Classic in Philadelphia, where she swept the master's, open tall, and open overall titles.  Nancy did the same thing one week later, winning her pro card at a USBF competition. She couldn't have been successful without the coaching of Stephanie Miller, IFPA Figure Champ, and the friendship and support of Andrew Hoover, who recently won his pro card at the Yorton Cup U.S. Nationals.

Six months later Nancy competed in the Charm City Classic, where she won another master's title and earned second place honors in the open tall division. Three weeks afterwards, she took the leap and competed in the IFPA Yorton Cup Pro International....the very show that inspired her just one year earlier.  Nancy entered with conservative expectations, so you could imagine her excitement and pride when she placed 4th in a field of twelve girls.

Nancy is hooked, but she's going to take more time this year to grow.  She will meet with Josh on a monthly basis to track her progress and make adjustments to her training and diet.  Her plans are to compete in an October 2009 show, and then return to the Yorton pro stage on November 14th, where she intends to bring a noticeably improved package.

I have never met Nancy in person, but I can tell you that she is one hot shit! After several emails with her, I feel like we have met before, and that we were great friends in another life.I love her enthusiasm for the sport, and hey, she's over 40 just like me! Of course, the only difference is that she looks 30, and I still look over 40 lol.

I for one can't wait to see her at the next Yorton Cup!
